Silence Detector is a software Silence Detector designed to monitor your radio station, audio or inernet web stream and warn you if silence is detected.
Silence Detector is the perfect tool for building confidence when installing or configuring a new radio automation system or internet stream where periods of unintentional silence may otherwise go un-noticed.
Through a range of user settings, the time before silence is reported can be altered - so classical stations won't end up with false reports during orchestral pauses, for example.
Unlike conventional stand-alone units, the incredibly versatile Broadcast Silence Detector can email an alert message, offer an output to connect to a relay (so that you can use a closing contact to try and restart an automation system or switch in an alternative source), or can optionally be configured start playing audio out itself!
You can optionally launch another Windows application too.
Silence Detector has a optional unique way of sending emails directly to the recipients mail server (rather than through your ISPs mail server) which dramatically increases delivery speed and avoids the need for SMTP authentication or other authentication (please see important note below).
For the above reason, each version of the program is hard-coded with your details to prevent mis-use of the program.
The software is designed to run on a simple office machine with domestic sound-card (Soundblaster, SoundMax and onboard, Sis & AC97 and many others tested), into which the feed of the audio is plugged into the Line Input. (Some audio cards also support monitoring a 'Stereo Mix' or 'What U Hear' so you can monitor a web stream without having a loop back cable).
System Requirements:
- Windows 2000 or Windows XP (Professional or Home)
- We recommend a Pentium class processor 450Mhz or higher, but do have customers using the software on 200Mhz machines.
- As Windows 98 doesn't support unicode or DNS look ups in the same way as the above operating systems, sending emails directly may not be possible - please Contact Us if you require a version of the software to run on Windows 98.

Important Note: A small number of recipients mail servers may require a valid reverse DNS record to utilize our 'send direct' feature and will otherwise reject connections. A reverse DNS record can be setup by your ISP if you have a static IP address. Currently, we are aware that AT&T require a reverse DNS but have so far had no other reports of this issue.
